About me

My name is Maria do Carmo Rodrigues Amorim.

I was born in Portugal, raised in Brazil, and lived in Sweden from 2006 to 2018. I currently reside in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

I hold a degree in Chemical Engineering and a master's degree in Sanitary Engineering from the International Institute for Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering (IHE) in Delft, Netherlands.

With over 30 years of experience as a professional engineer, I have worked in water resource management and environmental control related to energy projects, including the construction and operation of hydropower plants and power lines within Brazil's energy sector.

My career as a technical translator started after moving to Sweden. Complementing my technical professional qualifications, I have attended specific translation courses—among others, Juridical Translation to Portuguese and Translation and Linguistic Information Technologies—and participated in the annual conferences of the Swedish Association of Professional Translators (SFÖ), as well as in different translation conferences and webinars.

I am a full member of the Swedish Association of Professional Translators and Authorized Interpreters (SFÖ-SAT).

Profile: https://sfoe.se/sv/profil/1391
Certified translations in Sweden are provided by "auktoriserade översättare," sworn translators who have undergone and passed a professional examination at the Kammarkollegiet. This credential in Sweden gives translators the right to use a special authorization stamp, which they use to stamp the document, thereby certifying that the translation corresponds to the original.

In Portugal, a certified translation refers to a translation service attested by a notary public or a law firm. The certification includes a confirmation that the translation corresponds to the source text, along with the translator's signature and name clarification. The translator must also indicate that he or she is a professional translator or equivalent and what language direction the translation pertains to. This certification makes the translation legally binding. The translator bears full responsibility for the accuracy of the translation.

Certified translations are requested for official documents that need to be presented to Portuguese authorities.
Every client and assignment is treated with complete confidentiality. Here you can read about SFÖ's code of ethics:

**Rates**

Translation costs are determined by various factors, including text volume, language combination, complexity, and delivery time. Charges are typically based on the number of source words in the original text. For large-volume projects, a fixed price can be agreed upon by both parties. Proofreading, editing, and reviewing services are billed by the hour.

For a cost-free estimate of your document, please send me an email. To provide an accurate price, kindly attach the text you need to be translated. Additionally, specify the language combination (Swedish to European or Brazilian Portuguese) and the desired delivery time.
